Spring earlier this year was an exciting time in Boys Track and Boys Golf. Gilbert High School crowned two State Champions in May.
2015 Gilbert Graduate Demetre Irving competed on May 16 at the 3A State Track Championship at Spring Valley High School. Irving also established a new School Record at the state track meet. Earlier in the track season, Irving broke the school record of 6’2” by jumping 6’4” at the Batesburg meet. At the state meet, Irving broke his own school record of 6’4” by jumping 6’6” in the championship round and claimed the top spot on the podium. Demetre was coached by Head Coaches Danny Tribble and Deana Keisler.

Gilbert High School Senior Caleb Proveaux competed in the 3A State Boys Golf Championship in Conway on May 19. Proveaux who competed earlier this school year in the USGA Amateur Golf Tournament took top honors in the one hole playoff at the State Championship this past spring. Proveaux and his teammates also broke a school record in the spring. Caleb shot an individual lowest 9 hole score of 4 under and the Varsity Boys Team shot a lowest team score in a single match by two strokes by shooting a score of 300. Proveaux will have another chance this school year to play for the gold again. Caleb is coached by Head Coach Dawn Fairey.
